Research has recently shown that some people who bring a claim for personal injury suffer from stress associated with that process.
That stress is compounded by the fact that the person will be in pain from their injury together with the fact that they may have financial concerns, ie, whether they will be paid or not by their employer. They may worry about whether they will be able to return to work because of their injury, and may be the main bread winner with a family to support.
Many people decide to bring a claim for that reason, ie, that their employer has been responsible for them suffering a work related accident, and refuses to pay them. It is this injustice that they are an innocent victim, that steers some to embark down the compensation route.
We quite often hear the words, if only I had an apology or an acknowledgement of guilt, I would not have brought a claim.
Many clients who come to us have not claimed for personal injury before, and are unaware of how the process works.
They find it stressful to deal with the day to day administration of such a claim (ie, solicitor correspondence, repeating the accident circumstances) and worry about the fact that they are bringing a personal injury claim against their employer (and fear for losing their job).
In additional to attending gp/hospital and physiotherapy appointments, they will also have to attend an appointment so that a medico legal report can be prepared. For those not use to seeing medical experts, this can be an additional stressful burden to what is, for most people, a stressful time.
That is why we at Bartletts try and acknowledge this fact, reassure you and always make ourselves available to you to discuss your claim or whatever the issue may be.
